Blithe Crystal Iceplant Pressed Serum [Review] by Victoria Huynh on Jul 28, 2016

9
If you're busy and you don't have time for a 10-step Korean skin care routine, you'll probably want a product that serves more than one function. Blithe's Crystal Iceplant Pressed Serum is a hybrid between a moisturizer and a serum so you can save a few minutes of your life everyday. After using it for a full month, here is what I have to say about this product:

Background/Claims

Product description from Sephora:

"An anti-polluaging serum and moisturizer hybrid, this formula is packed with 63 percent iceplant extract, which provides lasting hydration and nourishment without heaviness. Iceplant extract is combined with botanical extracts to provide skin with featherweight, lasting moisture while protecting against harsh climates and pollution. Formulated into a cooling gel cream, iceplant extract from the Sahara helps to soothe, hydrate, and minimize the appearance of pores. The all-in-one product is designed to condense serum and moisturizer into one step that nourishes and hydrates skin without heaviness."

Design/Packaging

The Blithe Crystal Iceplant Pressed Serum ( 50 ml / 1.68 fl. oz) comes in a sturdy translucent jar that's about the size of your palm. Upon unscrewing the cap, you'll see an extra white lid that helps keep the product in. A small clear spatula is provided to scoop the gel out. Although the jar feels a bit heavy, I really liked the look and feel of the packaging overall.

Color/Texture

The aqueous gel is a light green color, but it becomes transparent the moment it is massaged into the skin. The texture is very airy and lightweight as promised and does not feel heavy at all. It absorbs very quickly and feels slightly cool on your face. Some people like to pop this in the fridge for extra coolness.

Here is a dab of it on my hand:

Here it is blended into my skin:

Scent
There is a subtle citrus and floral scent that reminds me of a light, pleasant smelling hand soap. You will barely notice it.

Performance
When I first used this during a breakout, I was skeptical of it actually helping my skin. It promised a cooling and soothing effect, but I felt as if the serum increased the redness and heat on my face. However, after letting it sink into my skin, my irritations significantly calmed down. Using this after a breakout ended allowed me to really see its effectiveness in minimizing pore sizes.

As for hydration, this product really does leave your face feeling plump and moisturized. Immediately after application, your face will feel fresh and matte. A couple hours in, you'll notice how smooth your skin feels. I know I shouldn't touch my face a lot, but this product makes my cheeks feel so soft that my hands can't keep away. Overall, I believe this a great product filled with a lot of natural ingredients that you'll enjoy putting on your face.
