Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips in Cheap Thrills & Are N Be [Swatches + Review] by Jinra Ilustrisimo on Oct 25, 2016
Product information from the official ColourPop web site:
"Step 1: Make sure your lips are bare and dry! Step 2: Apply matching lip pencil for a precise and perfected application. Step 3: Apply Ultra Matte Lip with the applicator or your favorite lip brush. **For smoothest finish always exfoliate your lips first! This thin and lightweight formula glides onto the lips smoothly and leaves SUPER intense pigment-rich colour with a bold, ultra matte look. It's very long wearing and completely kiss proof! We suggest storing these babies upright and shaking before application!"
The ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip (3.2 g/.11 oz) is packaged in a sturdy, clear glass tube featuring a chrome silver cap. The wand applicator is your average doe foot for precise application. It's simple and easy to use. Here's a closer look:
Cheap Thrills is described as a, "dusty lilac," while Are N Be is described as a, "rich mauve plum." Both are accurate descriptions of each shade.
Texture starts out as a creamy liquid, then dries down to a true matte lipstick finish. It's slightly drying as most matte liquid lipsticks tend to be but at the same time is not of the mousse-y or tacky texture. All four shades wear comfortably when I start off with hydrated, exfoliated lips. Some swatches in natural indoor lighting:

For funsies, I wanted to see how Are N Be compared to other similar shades in my collection:
Above is basically my lip trinity at the moment. All of my moods in one swatch photo!
The performance or formulation of the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip hasn't changed since I first reviewed the Ultra Matte To-Go Foxy Set at the beginning of the year. The deeper, more pigmented the shade, the longer-lasting it is. Both shades will survive a good eight hours of wear, including meals, without the need for any reapplications. No transferring!
Application is still easy using the doe foot applicator. Depending on the size of your lips, I found that it took up to a minute for the Ultra Matte Lips to dry down to its true shade without any patchy-ness.
The feel of the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip is a teeny bit drying. Such is the nature of most liquid lipsticks I've experienced lately. My solution to the dryness of a liquid lipstick is to apply a bit of Aquaphor (or your favorite lip balm) to the center of your lips in a dabbing motion. The finish will change from matte to satin but at least it's some comfort for your lips!
One last thing to note is that none of the shades feathered or bled out.
