Holy Coral! This Peripera My Color Lips Lipstick Is Sacrilege [Review] by Jinra Ilustrisimo on Jun 5, 2013

9
New to Peripera's My Color Lips lipstick collection for 2013 is a color called Holy Coral. It's a fine name if you worship in the House of Coral. However, according to the House's commandments, "Thou shall not worship other lipstick shades leading you to believe it's coral when it's not really coral but some other shade." What shade you ask? Read on, my friends.

The Claims

Never heard of Peripera? It's one of those glorified Korean drugstore beauty brands that we tend to love here at FlauntMe. According to an English translation of the official My Color Lips Lipstick production description:

"Peripera’s My Color Lips, has 24 eye catching colors for every occasion. Your lips will have a dewy shine like resembles that of dew on a flower petal. Your lips will stand out not only with color but fullness. This lipstick contains flower petal extracts and natural rose hip oil which gives your lips vitality!"

Eye-catching, smooth, full lips? Nice.

Packaging

In a word, CUTE. No surprise here since it's a manufactured by a Korean beauty brand catering to young Korean women. You get about 3.5g of lipstick which is average. The tube cover is plastic and is designed to look like a floral lace cover. The bottom of the lipstick features a fancy knob that you use to pull the lipstick from the case. It's simple to use and cute to boot!

Color

Here's where I get into the sacrilege part. Holy Coral is not a coral shade of lipstick! I would describe it as a tangerine shade. Here's a swatch of it on half my lips:

Applied fully:

Texture

Glides on smooth. Has a slight tendency to settle into lines but is easily fixed if you just remember to blot.

Scent

Faintly of roses. Must be that rose hip oil.

Performance

Although Holy Coral is not quite a coral shade of lipstick, I have to say -- I still enjoyed it anyway. It's a vibrant shade of tangerine, that applies well and will provide slightly above average wear. On me, it lasted a good 4 hours of wear before I needed to reapply. There's minimal transference but if you're a seasoned lipstick-wearer like myself, this is expected. Overall, recommended so long as you understand Holy Coral is not a coral lipstick!

Availability: Peripera if you live in Korea. If you don't, your best bet is eBay where it's currently retailing for $15 - 20 USD, shipping & handling not included.
