L'Oreal's Magic De-Crease Eyelid Primer falls short of magical [Review] by Felicia Phan on Jul 20, 2013

4
Primers are meant to save the day by protecting your eye shadow throughout the hours, but is L'Oreal's Magic De-Crease Eyelid Primer as magical as it claims to be? According to Ulta, the product flaunts:

"Magic Decrease Eyelid Primer by L'Oreal prevents eyelid creasing; extends eye shadow wear up to 8 hours. Can be used with powder, creme or gloss shadows. Available in one universal shade (suits all skin tones)."

First Impression

At first glance, I took this product as the typical, everyday primer that simply does the job. The packaging is pretty standard as the primer comes in a 0.19 fl. oz tube with a wand applicator. It also offers a single shade that does appear pretty suitable for most skin tones. Upon first swatch I noticed that the primer seemed to glide on smoothly and my expectations remained at a decent level.

Performance

Unfortunately, it didn't perform as well as I'd hoped. The Magic De-Crease Eyelid Primer went on silky and smooth but as the day went on, things started to grow a bit ugly. Although the product promises eight hours, I managed just about four before I noticed that the primer didn't hold on as tough as I'd expected. It began to wear off and slight creasing, despite the primer's name, did occur. However, I still have to compliment the primer for the duration of its better performance.

Overall

The Magic De-Crease Eyelid Primer had a terrific start with high hopes. However, as time progressed, the eyelid primer quickly revealed its shortcomings. Despite its efforts, this product failed to achieve a magical status in my book.

It looks more like a concealer than a primer.
