The Matte 'n Metals palette (0.42 oz / 12 g) comes in the Stila signature gold plastic casing. There is a mirror on the inside on the back of the lid, and it also has a magnetic clasp to keep the palette closed. The packaging was simple and sturdy. It's a pretty portable palette as well.
A Closer Look:
The texture of this eyeshadow was soft, smooth, and lightweight. It wasn't overly powdery, which I liked. The colors hold together well! I just wish there was more pigmentation.
In the photo below, I applied feathered, sequin and sizzle on my housemate:
I was in love with the colors when I first saw them, but after playing around with them multiple times, I was slightly disappointed with the mattes. The base colors were amazing, but the second row was hardly pigmented. On my light to medium skin, the colors of the second row were extremely muted, so it will probably work best if you brighten your lids beforehand. This palette's colors work for very neutral and natural looks, but in my opinion, the colors were too similar to each other once applied on my lids. You also have to really layer it on to build up the color. For more pigmentation, I noticed it works best when applied damp or wet. The metals were gorgeous and very flattering, though. The shades have a perfect amount of shimmer. My favorite was sequin!
Although the colors were not the best in my opinion, I did love how lightweight it felt and how easily it blended. There was very little fallout and it was quite long-wearing. Overall, I think this is a good palette to go along with other palettes. On its own, it's only alright.
