Tarte Double Duty Beauty Color Your World Color-Correcting Palette [Swatches + Review] by Victoria Huynh on Feb 8, 2017
Product information from Ulta:
"Play with pigment with this portable color-correcting palette. It conceals, contours, highlights and brightens as it color-corrects for all skin tones. The six creamy shades address common concerns like redness, acne, dark circles, and hyperpigmentation, while infusing powerful anti-aging ingredients like hyaluronic acid, coconut, and antioxidant vitamins A & E to replenish skin from the inside out. The cream formula activates with your natural body heat - it melts into skin without clogging pores as it fades and softens the look of surface imperfections such as fine lines."
The Tarte Double Duty Beauty Color Your World Color-Correcting Palette comes in a gold, compact plastic casing the size of your hand. I think the cover design looks lovely; it's chic and sophisticated. The lid is clasped and secure and there is a mirror on the inside. I had no complaints about the packaging.
The palette also comes with some helpful instructions to show which colors should go where on your face.
A Closer Look:
There are 6 colors: yellow to brighten, peach to counter darkness, green to neutralize redness, contour to define and sculpt, matte highlight to correct and blend, and pearly champagne to highlight. The formula is creamy and smooth. It feels comfortable on the skin and does not feel heavy at all.
Notice how my dark circles, forehead acne, and hyperpigmentation are more concealed.
This palette provides sheer to medium coverage, which I was content with. The colors are highly pigmented and easy to blend. The green helped neutralize my acne scars really well and the yellow helped brighten many areas of my face. The peach did an okay job at concealing my dark circles, but my dark circles were still somewhat visible. I was satisfied with the champagne and matte highlight, but disappointed with the contour shade. The contour shade did not do much for my skin tone; it barely showed up. It also leaned more towards an orange color, which I wasn't a big fan of.
I liked how comfortable and lightweight this palette felt on my skin. It wasn't cakey and it didn't feel like I had anything on while wearing it. I also liked knowing there are natural ingredients in the formula that will help replenish my skin. However, I didn't think it made my pores look much softer and less noticeable. As for use duration, the formula is long lasting. I did not need any touch ups the entire day.
Although this took a while to apply, it was easy for a beginner like me to get a grasp of how to use it. I'm sure it gets faster once you're really used to it. I don't think I'd use the entire palette everyday, but I'd probably use the green, yellow, and peach for targeted concerns often! Ultimately, I think it provided pretty decent coverage that helped my complexion look more even.
